spidey and BBBS
May 4, 2007**spoiler warning: for those who haven't watched spider-man 3 yet, the ending and some parts of the movie may be given away in this post.
watched spider-man 3 in shangri-la last night. although i'm not really a big fan of spidey, i watched the third installment nonetheless out of curiosity. curiosity on who the next villains will be, how he will eliminate them, and what happens between him and mj. compared to the first two spider-man movies, this one was more dramatic. there were several scenes that almost made me cry. almost…hihi. i'm not really much of a tearjerker. the fight scenes were really action-packed wherein it was almost dizzying to watch.
all in all, it wasn't that bad but it also wasn't a masterpiece. i didn't like the way it ended. whatever happened to happy endings and the hero having the girl of his dreams? and how come the bestfriend/bad guy turned good guy always die in the end? i guess i'm just a big fan of feel-good movies and endings wherein the "bida" gets everything. still, i recommend you watch this movie so that you won't be left behind in conversations…hihi.
after watching spidey, we went to a meeting in makati regarding the volunteer work we plan on doing late this may. it's called the Big Brother Big Sister (BBBS) community outreach. the goal of this program is to be able to give school supplies to children from the Lubo elementary school in Kalinga Apayao. the bus ride from espana to bulanao will take 11 hours. from bulanao, we will transfer to a truck to take us to Lubo, which will take 3-4 hours. and from there we have to trek for 3-6 hours depending on the fitness of the trekker. whew! and they say that the weather there, since it's summer, is super hot. plus, we may be able to bump into some snakes. scary! i despise snakes. i'm sooo scared of them! but, anyway, attending the meeting and hearing what they had to say about our upcoming climb made me really excited! i can't wait for may25. i've heard that the place was really scenic so, i will really be enjoying this trip plus i will be able to help less fortunate children. ain't that nice?!

6. Shrek the Third –May 18
7. Rush Hour 3 –Aug 10
8. The Invisible –April 27
9. Lucky You –May 4 (only because Eric Bana stars in this film…landi!)
i hope i didn't miss anything. i'll just add more to this list once i find more movies i'd like to watch…but i'm sure i won't be able to watch all these. just wishful thinking! hihi.
Harry Potter
March 7, 2007If you are a certified Harry Potter junkie, then you should be excited with the release of the latest Harry Potter movie, which is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. It will be released on July 13 this year in the Philippines. Also, the final installment of the Harry Potter book series is due to come out on July 21, 2007. The new book is entitled Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
=================================
I can't wait to watch the movie and read the book! I'm so excited. But it's still a good 4 months away…
=================================
Rumor has it that the Deathly Hallows is JK Rowling's favorite book (among the seven). But she didn't say why. Below is a diary entry by JK Rowling (from her official site) wherein she shared her thoughts on finishing the seventh novel:
"I always knew that Harry's story would end with the seventh book, but saying goodbye has been just as hard as I always knew it would be. Even while I'm mourning, though, I feel an incredible sense of achievement. I can hardly believe that I've finally written the ending I've been planning for so many years. I've never felt such a mixture of extreme emotions in my life, never dreamed I could feel simultaneously heartbroken and euphoric."

February 28, 2007This movie is a must-see!
And since this movie is not yet shown in Philippine cinemas, I won't be a spoiler. =)
All I can say is that I really enjoyed this movie and I know you'll enjoy it too. Where else can you see hunks with six-packs everywhere… I couldn't stop staring, let alone blink. Yahoo!
The Number 23
February 24, 2007Since it's the weekend, I finally got to watch a movie. Yey!=)
I was debating on watching either The Ghost Rider starring Nicholas Cage, or The Fountain starring Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz, or Music and Lyrics starring Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. Since my hubby wanted to watch The number 23…then I had no choice…ehehe.
Tne number 23 is a movie starring Jim Carrey. It is different from his usual movies because, this time, the movie is full of suspense. He plays the role of Walter Sparrow, an animal control officer who has a wife and a kid. One day, while he was on duty, he was bitten by a dog named Ned. That incident made him late in meeting his wife. While waiting for him to show up, his wife stumbled upon a book entitled The Number 23 and was written by a Topsy Kretts. She buys the book for him. And as he begins reading the book, he relates with the author. He relates everything that happens in his life to the number 23…creepy! At the end of the movie, he finds out that he actually wrote the book. He wrote it after he killed an ex-girlfriend and he sort of just snapped. He tried to jump off a building but he lived and ended up in a mental institute. When he got better and left the institute, that's when he met his wife. He just sort of forgot about that time in his life and forgot about the book.
For me, the movie was an utter disappointment. I guess it wasn't what I expected. Imagine, my hubby even fell asleep during a certain part of the movie. It was dragging and predictable. What a waste of money! Maybe Jim Carrey should stick to comedy.
